Heat-shrinkable accessories

The most commonly used types of medium and low voltage cable accessories include heat-shrinkable accessories, prefabricated accessories, and cold-shrinkable accessories.

Prefabricated accessories

The materials used are generally silicone rubber or ethylene propylene rubber. They primarily employ a geometric structure method, i.e., stress cones, to address stress concentration issues. Their main advantages are excellent material properties, simpler and faster installation (no heating required), good elasticity, and significantly improved interface performance.

Cold-shrinkable accessories

Cold-shrinkable cable accessories are made by injection molding and vulcanizing elastomer materials (commonly silicone rubber and ethylene propylene rubber) in the factory. After expansion and lining with plastic spiral supports, various cable accessory components are formed. During field installation, these pre-expanded components are fitted onto the treated cable end or joint, the internal supporting plastic spiral strip (support) is removed, and the component is pressed tightly against the cable insulation.
