Wind turbine cables are required to withstand high-frequency torsion (±1440°, over 10,000 cycles), operate under wide temperature range (-55℃~+110℃), and feature high mechanical strength and excellent environmental corrosion resistance. Products comply strictly with GB/T 29631-2025 (low voltage) and GB/T 33606-2017 (medium voltage).

Core Performance

  • Torsion resistance & flexibility: Endure repeated torsion caused by nacelle yawing. Minimum 10,000 torsion cycles at ambient temperature (±4 turns, total 1440°); over 2,000 cycles at -25℃ or -40℃. No conductor breakage, insulation/sheath cracking or electrical failure after test.
  • Temperature adaptability: Ambient service temperature -45℃ ~ +50℃; long-term conductor operating temperature 90℃ or 105℃. Elongation at break ≥80% at -40℃ ~ -55℃ to avoid brittle fracture.
  • Mechanical property: High tensile strength, abrasion and vibration resistance. Minimum bending radius ≥4×OD for fixed installation, ≥5×OD for moving/torsion installation. Tensile strength ≥6.5MPa for insulation, ≥12MPa for sheath.
  • Environmental resistance: Pass salt spray test (coastal & offshore wind farm), UV aging, oil resistance and flame retardant test. Service life matches wind turbines: 20 years for onshore, 25 years for offshore projects.

Construction & Material

  • Conductor: Class 5 or Class 6 finely stranded flexible copper conductor per GB/T 3956, single wire diameter 0.15mm-0.25mm.
  • Insulation: EPR or XLPE. Ordinary PVC is not allowed for dynamic torsion sections.
  • Sheath: Neoprene, CPE, TPU or special elastomer, resistant to oil, hydrolysis, ozone and tear.
  • Shield & Filler: Copper wire braided shield (coverage ≥80%) for MV cables. Non-hygroscopic compatible filler prevents core loosening during torsion.

Testing Standard

GB/T 29631-2025 (≤1.8/3kV), GB/T 33606-2017 (6kV~35kV). Torsion test refers to NB/T 31036 series. Mandatory tests include energized torsion test, low-temperature bending test, salt spray test and flame test. Any conductor breakage, sheath crack or voltage breakdown during torsion test leads to failure.
